Assassin’s Creed II Preview

Since the first Assassins Creed was released in 2007, the award winning Ubisoft have been working on a sequel: Assassins Creed 2. After the trailer, you can be pretty sure that the sequel will live up to, if not exceed the reputation achieved by the first game.

So what’s new about the game? To begin with, it is set in a completely different era, Renaissance Italy, across the city of Venice. You will be playing in the role of Ezio Auditore da Firenzewho after having had a noble birth, plots against his family and ends up a blood thirsty assassin. Although the sequel will be similar to the original in many ways, Ubisoft has tried to address the main criticisms of the first game and resolve them accordingly, such as making the missions more diverse, and re-configuring out the controls in order to make them less awkward.

Assassins Creed II

Throughout the game you will have a chance to use over 30 different weapons which will enable you to deal (in more gory manners than those in the first game) with the more realistic and characters that will follow you if they feel suspicious, and have the ability to find your safe spots. On top of this, there will be over 200 missions which will be designed to vary moreso than the first game in order to allow a more enjoyable and longer playtime. You can also hire others to aid you to get through the game, including Leonardo da Vinci who will invent gadgets for you such as the flying machine which can be seen in the demo.

Overall Assassins Creed 2 stands in very good stead to match, and improve on the quality of the first game in the series in order to keep you glued to your screens for hours.

Available on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 from Tuesday 19th November 2009.

The fist one was a truly fantastic experience and now that they have made a few tweaks here and there the sequel should be a high contender for Game of the Year.
